Film Intro: Dear Hans

How much can be left unsaid in something as small as a postcard?

In "DEAR HANS" by Claudia Richarz (Germany ), Maria writes a postcard to her brother Hans, who is a soldier. Through this simple act of communication, the film opens a space for reflection on family, distance and the realities that separate us.

Minimalist and intimate, "Dear Hans" shows how a few written words can carry emotions far beyond what appears on the page.

Claudia Richarz is an award-winning German experimental and documentary filmmaker and co-founder of Hamburg’s women’s media centre "Bildwechsel". Her work includes the Grimme Award-winning series "Abnehmen in Essen", the Berlinale-premiered "Vulva 3.0" amongst others.
