Film Intro: Five Walls
What happens when protecting someone you love slowly becomes its own kind of prison? 🖤
"FIVE WALLS" by Mey Montero (Spain 🇪🇸) takes us to the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, where Julia presents herself to the outside world as a widow while secretly hiding her fugitive husband behind a wall inside their home.
Living under the constant threat of police raids, Julia is trapped between secrecy, fear and survival. But as her husband’s hidden presence begins to consume more of her life, the walls meant to protect him increasingly close in on her own space and freedom.
Madrid-based Mey Montero trained in cinematography and directing at TAI and works across film, advertising and music videos. Her short "Chiquita Piconera" was selected at "Camerimage" and received 17 awards, including Best Drama at CineYouth, part of the Chicago International Film Festival.
