Film Intro: La Vida Es
We are kicking off our 2026 Film Programme introductions with "LA VIDA ES" (LIFE IS) by Lorena Villarreal Treviño.
Nora is about to turn 40, the same age her father was when he died, and finds herself asking: "What’s the point of it all?" Love is complicated, life is messy, and a new chapter is about to begin.
"La Vida Es" explores the complexities of women’s lives through a fluid, rhythmic and deeply personal cinematic experience. Shot on 35mm and digital, the film plays with continuous shots, jump cuts, improvisation and breaking the fourth wall, accompanied by music influenced by 60s & 70s independent rock.
Behind the film is Lorena Villarreal Treviño, a pioneer of 21st-century Mexican fantasy and horror cinema.
