In "MAIA. A MOTHER OF NATIONS" by Sara Dos Santos (UK 🇬🇧), a woman travels across oceans, guided by faith, resilience and hope. Rooted in real events and the filmmaker’s own family history, her journey unfolds against the backdrop of Portuguese colonialism, migration and war.

Poetic and deeply personal, "MAIA." combines dance, shifting landscapes and experimental storytelling to explore inherited histories, courage and belonging, celebrating the strength of the women whose journeys continue to shape generations. ✨

Sara Dos Santos is a multidisciplinary artist creating work rooted in historical truth while amplifying underrepresented voices. Bringing together film, movement and other art forms, her work explores personal and collective histories through beauty, authenticity and experimentation.
