Film Intro: What Stays

How much can you give to others before you begin to lose yourself? ๐Ÿ–ค

In "WHAT STAYS" by Jasmina El Far (Germany ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช), young nurse Sophia dedicates herself to caring for the confused and lonely Mrs. Berger. But as her patient increasingly retreats into the past, Sophia finds herself reaching the limits of her own resilience.

Intimate and deeply human, "What Stays" explores caregiving, self-sacrifice and queer realities in old age, while confronting the pressures of a healthcare system that too often depends on people giving more than they can sustain. ๐Ÿซถ

Jasmina El Far is a German-Egyptian actress and registered nurse who has worked in emergency and intensive care, including at Charitรฉ Berlin. Drawing on her own experience and more than 20 interviews with healthcare professionals, she brings an authentic perspective to "What Stays", her directorial debut.
