What if the role you were given was never the one you wanted to play? 🐺

"ALBAŞ" by Merve Yıldız (Turkey 🇹🇷), follows a child growing up in the countryside, caught between the expectations of masculinity imposed upon him and the identity and freedom he discovers within fairy tales.

While Erkan is drawn to the role of Little Red Riding Hood, the world around him pushes him towards another figure: the wolf. As fairy tale and reality begin to intertwine, "ALBAŞ" becomes a psychological exploration of gender roles, vulnerability, power and the freedom to exist beyond expectations.

Merve Yıldız is a director and producer who approaches psychological storytelling through a character-driven cinematic language. With "ALBAŞ", she brings fairy tale and reality together to challenge familiar ideas of masculinity and femininity, not by replacing one label with another, but by asking why these restrictive roles exist in the first place.
