What if a ritual meant to protect the ones we love opened a door to something unseen?
"LA SUPERSTICIÓN DEL HUEVO" by Darmyn Calderon (USA ), transforms an egg cleansing ritual into a haunting exploration of maternal love, superstition and the space between worlds.
Inspired by Calderon’s memories of watching her Ecuadorian mother perform the ritual and later witnessing it again with her own children, the film reimagines an experience that once seemed strange as a deeply intimate act of love and protection. But as the ritual unfolds, something unexpected is awakened.
Through movement, rhythm and Claire Deak’s evocative score, "La Superstición del Huevo" brings memory, cultural tradition and the supernatural together in a mysterious visual experience.
Darmyn Calderon is a Sydney-born filmmaker of Ecuadorian heritage with more than 25 years of editorial experience across Australia, the UK, New Zealand and the US. Her move into directing dance film brings together her editorial eye with a lifelong fascination for movement, memory and storytelling.
