What happens when the world you control begins to turn against you?
"THE AWAKENING" by Xenia Selvian (Germany / Russia ) enters the surreal world of a lonely architect who escapes into fashion, dance and fantasy inside his luxurious mansion. As his servants begin to take control, illusion and reality blur, leading him toward an inevitable awakening.
Xenia Selvian is a director and cinematographer working across film, advertising, and fashion, with internationally recognized work. For "The Awakening", she collaborated with fashion brand Emma Salzberg, building the film’s visual world around its costumes. The film also draws inspiration from the theatrical work of Roman Viktyuk and his play The Handmaids.
