Film Intro: The Windmill and the sea

What happens when the things we depend on to survive become the very things destroying our home? 🌊

In "THE WINDMILL AND THE SEA" by Lysia Valentina Gani (South Korea 🇰🇷), fishermen in a coastal village repeatedly find plastic inside their catch. A local child transforms the fragments into tiny windmills, finding beauty and play in what the sea returns, but the plastic inevitably finds its way back into the water.

Poetic and quietly powerful, "The Windmill and the Sea" explores plastic pollution, poverty and the difficult cycle between environmental responsibility and survival, seen through the eyes of a child. ♻️

Lysia Valentina Gani is a theatre and film practitioner studying Film & Visual Effects at Dongseo University alongside English for Creative Industry at Petra Christian University. Working across directing, writing, choreography and multimedia production, she creates stories that challenge conventions and connect with audiences.
