In "TO MY GRANDFATHER" by Sofia Samoylova (Germany / Ukraine 🇩🇪🇺🇦), 92-year-old Serafima is learning to live alone after the death of her husband. Surrounded by the rooms and memories they once shared, she creates small rituals that allow life to continue through grief, love and absence.

Quiet and deeply intimate, "To My Grandfather" becomes a cinematic farewell letter told across generations. A tender reflection on loss, memory and finding a way to live alongside grief.

Sofia Samoylova is a German-Ukrainian filmmaker and photographer working primarily in documentary. Her films explore philosophical and socially relevant questions through personal and intimate perspectives, transforming universal experiences into deeply individual stories.
